Tropical Backcountry- Jungle Perch and Sooty Grunter 

• Cairns only  freshwater guided fishing tour.
• Walk and wade fishing in the tropical rainforest
• Unique permits to access national parks.
• Target species are jungle perch and sooty grunter.
• Topwater fishing all day- A quintessential experience.
• Warm water wading- no waders required
• Cool of with a swim in the crystal clear water
• All tackle is provided; bring your own gear if you prefer.
• Pick-up from Cairns CBD, Port Douglas or Mission Beach.
• The location depends on weather and river conditions.
• Up to 1hr 45min car trip to fishing location
• Easy to moderate hiking, A level of fitness is required.
• Bespoke multi day trips available.

The Day:

• Half Day 630-12noon
• Full Day 630- 430pm
• All tackle is provided- bring your own gear if you prefer
• Lunch, snacks, water, and hydrolites are all included.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

• Wear appropriate footwear (wading boots preferred).
• Bring a hat, long-sleeve shirt, sunblock and polarized sunglasses.
• Waterproof your camera if you bring one.
• A waterproof backpack, or we can loan one.

Tackle:

• 4lb spin outfit, 1000 size reel, 2-4kg rod, small surface poppers, light- unweighted plastics.

• #5-6 weight rods, floating lines (trout lines okay), hoppers, large dries, bug profiles, streamers, poppers (up to size 1/0).
• Long casts and fast strip required with foam head flies. (much more aggressive than trout fishing).
